This Fall, South Carolina Christian Foundation (SCCF) will present grants totaling $225,000 to ministries across the state that are meeting the needs of the infirmed, the immigrant, and the incarcerated as well as those who are at risk, under-resourced, and overcoming addiction—all of whom need the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Since 2004, through our Community Trust Initiative, SCCF has awarded annual ministry grants to evangelistic organizations reaching “the least of these” in our communities. In this, our nineteenth year, SCCF exceeded $3.5 million in Community Trust grants to Gospel ministries in South Carolina. This is in addition to over $50 million in grants SCCF has facilitated for our clients through their personal giving accounts, also known as Donor Advised Funds.

Community Trust grants are funded through annual donations from those who desire to give to a large cross-section of needs in our state. Anyone can donate to the Community Trust at any time and each year 100% of the contributions are awarded to ministries. Additionally, business owners and corporate leaders allow SCCF the opportunity to participate in their companies’ community-giving programs alongside such initiatives as United Way. In this way, employees can choose to give to charities aligning with their faith and values. Most importantly, the Community Trust is supported through estate plans like that of philanthropist and former SCCF Trustee Bobby Dobson. His legacy of generous giving and ministry support continues to advance the causes he cared about most, and the impact made in his memory will continue to influence others for generations.

Community Trust grants are awarded through rigorous selection processes conducted by SCCF Community Leadership Councils located in Spartanburg, Greenville, and York counties. As funding grows, SCCF will establish leadership councils and local ministry grant opportunities across the State.

The Community Leadership Council, and the ministry grants they recommend, comprise one of the ways SCCF disciples the hearts of individuals, raises awareness of ministries, and connects compassionate donors to ministries on the front lines of culture. If you are interested in contributing to the Community Trust, becoming more involved with SCCF, or interested in ways we can assist you in your tax-wise charitable giving, please let us know. We welcome your participation!
